8th Grade: Introduced the Life is all about Choices - Living my best life project. We also discussed and identified protective factors. What are Protective Factors? Protective factors shield us from negative choices/outlets. Example: shield us from substance abuse) High self esteem/confidence/personal goals Strong values Support systems/mentors Extra curricular activities Healthy/effective coping skills Hanging out with the right people 6th Grade: Small Changes = Big Differences Today we looked at specific tips we could follow to improve our food choices. Completed a give me five reflection. 7th Grade: Making connections. Today you completed and turned in your simulation station chart/notes.
8th Grade: Today we discussed trends and perceptions linked to health habits. You created a memory box on risks linked to alcohol abuse. 7th Grade: Impact alcohol abuse has on the body and mind. Watched a BrainPop video and completed an article review. Tomorrow you will use the text evidence collected to help you understand the simulation stations. 8th Grade: Today you completed a Tobacco "cheat sheet" comparing the health risks/concerns of traditional tobacco use and e-cigarettes. You will be completing a check for understanding tomorrow in class. I hope you used your time wisely with the substitute today. You will be allowed to use your "cheat sheet" on the quick check tomorrow. Everything we do should be with a purpose.... for a purpose. 6th Grade: Today you completed a nutrient graphic organizer and may have had time to begin working on the nutrient trivia activity. 7th Grade: Completed the two MAIN tobacco tasks. They will be collected tomorrow for a grade.

Our main focus was on how to build self-confidence and the benefits of self-confidence.
